PURPOSE
The gymnast parents at North Metro Gymnastics Center operate a Booster Club which is separate and individual from the North Metro Gymnastics. Each team gymnast parent or guardian (both boys and girls) are encouraged to become members of the Booster Club. Booster Club Officers who are volunteers, are selected by the membership and there are several Committee Heads to support the program. As a Booster Club Member you agree to supporting decisions North Metro Gymnastics Center.
The purpose of the Booster Club is to pay entry fees for the gymnasts to compete in gymnastics' meets, to pay for and supply uniforms to the team, to organize and staff volunteers for Home Meets, to organize and pay for gymnasts' travel at travel meets, and to cover any administrative expenses incurred by the Booster Club. These expenses will be covered by income received from parent donations, corporate sponsorships, program advertising, family/friend donations, and other fund raising efforts.
All contributions should be placed in the Pink Birdhouse in front of the Pro Shop. The gray metal box is for North Metro Gymnastics, Inc payments such as tuition and registration fees and is separate from the Booster Club.
The Booster Club qualifies as a 501 (c) (3) with its purpose being the 9 fostering of national or international amateur sports competition." Contributions are deductible because the Booster Club is for the benefit of many athletes and not for personal benefit. The uniforms supplied by the Booster Club are for the benefit of the team as a whole and not for individual benefit. The team must have matching uniforms in order to compete and be identified as a team. The uniforms would be collected up and redistributed in following years, however, there is a "personal nature" involved in the leotards/unitards and the warm up suits and they are not interchangeable.
The Booster Club is incorporated as a 501 (c) (3) organization for tax purposes. This means that the Booster Club is exempt from paying taxes. As the purpose of the Booster Club is to support various team levels, donations to the Booster Club will be tax deductible by you on your personal tax return as a "Charitable contribution" on Schedule A if you itemize since all contributions are designated for a team and not an individual. Sponsorships obtained from businesses will be tax deductible to the businesses. Since we are a 501 (c) (3) organization all contributions CANNOT be returned. This would be in violation of Federal Income Tax Law.
TIMING OF CONTRIBUTIONS
At the beginning of each year, the Booster Club will calculate a budgeted amount for each of the above expenses, by gymnastic competition/team level. Additionally, North Metro Gymnastics will also calculate a budgeted amount for registration fees. As might be expected, the cost for competing at higher levels, (optionals) is much greater than at the compulsory level.
This total team expense will then be divided into installments each with a due date. The installments may be satisfied via parent donation, corporate/family/friend sponsorships or offset by fund raising. Each item on the estimated budget, whether by personal check, sponsorship or fund raising must be paid by each due date in order for the Booster Club to cover its costs in a timely manner.
Each team member will be given a projected team expenses for the upcoming competitive season. If at any point, it appears that the expenses will be more, the amount may be increased. The Booster Club does not have excess funds to cover additional costs. It is merely a conduit for donations to cover expenses. The Booster Club, by its definition as a "non-profit" does not seek to make money, but is merely a pass-through entity to simplify paying the expenses of many athletes competing in gymnastics. Any shortage of funds must be covered by the members of the team, and any overages will be carried over.
The Booster Club will publish an Estimated Budget that will highlight due dates of team expenses. These are estimates of the total amount due. The April contributions will cover the costs of the sanctioned Team Camp=2 to be held in June. The additional contributions will be needed to cover the costs of uniforms and meets. Until the meet schedule is released (usually sometime in mid summer) we do not know actual costs of meets. Typically, meets are entered up to 10 weeks in advance and the funds must be available to cover these meet entries. Also, if your child will be doing both Compulsory and Optional Seasons, the cost will be higher.
The Booster Club reserves the right to update the above estimates at any point that it becomes clear that the estimates are not inline with actual expenditures. This may result in an increase in contributions or a decrease.
FUND RAISING
Since the Booster Club is a non-profit, we are able to fund raise. There will be several fund raising opportunities to offset the required contribution amounts. In the past, there have been Program Book Sales, Banners, Cookie Dough, Pizza, Magazines, Wrapping Paper, and Candles. You will receive more information throughout the year regarding opportunities. On the last page of this document is a copy of the NMGCBC Sponsorship and Ad form. All ads are Due September 1st.
BOOKKEEPING
The treasurer will put out periodic statements to keep you up-to-date with your contributions, (via personal, business or fund raising). This will also serve as your tax receipt.
UNIFIRMS
The Booster Club typically replaces leotards/unitards each year. New designs of warm-up suits are ordered every two years. All new members must have a leotard/unitard and warm-up suit to compete. The coast should be $200.00 to $300.00. Orders/sizing will be completed in June/July timeframe. If there is not enough funds available, there will be a delay in ordering which would impact the availability for the first meet.
COMMUNICATION
There are several means of communication to keep members informed. There are gymnasts folders that are in front of the Pro Shop sorted by level that will contain information.
